Book launch party!

Ariadne, I Love You and The Attic Tragedy double book launch

In both 2020 and 2021, I released books into the wilderness of social distancing and lockdowns. Though we held some excellent online events to celebrate at the time, nothing compares to the vibe of a reading in a room full of people. Kaaron Warren and Aaron Dries were kind enough to help me pull this together at the last minute. Wine was quaffed, conversations were had, books were read and sold. A fine time was had by all.

Photos of the launch (taken by the inimitable Cat Sparks) are now up on Flickr. Check them out!

Shirley Jackson Award winner!

Shirley Jackson Award winner!

Sooooo… aw jeez. I’ve been hiding out all day in a state of shock and bewilderment because The Attic Tragedy won a fricking Shirley Jackson Award!

I watched the ceremony with my youngest, who sat there with fingers crossed and insisted I do the same – though I told him I had no hope of winning. When the announcement came, I literally shrieked – and kept shrieking. (My eldest was on a school Zoom call in the other room. His teacher asked him politely to mute himself because of the “background noise.”)

Congrats to all the winners, with special nods to Kathe Koja (meerkat-shaped fist bump coming your way), Lee Murray and Gene Flynn (the fantastic flight of the Cranes continues!). And of course, epic, bottomless thank yous to Kaaron Warren and to the unstoppable Meerkat Press!

StokerCon 2021

StokerCon 2021

readings, panels, and a cat makes its debut…

I had such high hopes for getting to real-life cons this year, but COVID put paid to all of them. Though I would have loved to connect with more people in person, I had a blast at StokerCon 2021, which had an exceptional line-up of great content. I read a (freakishly beardless) extract from Ariadne, I Love You, and Kaaron Warren, Aaron Dries. and I launched the pilot of our new podcast, Let The Cat In. Check out the videos below.
